What\u0027s military time called

military time is a concise and efficient way of indicating the time when used in a calendar or on a digital clock. This form of expressing the time is often used in the military, aviation, emergency services, and hospitals. It is officially referred to as "24-hour clock" or "time format" in the United States and many other countries around the world.

In military time, hours are designated with four numbers instead of two. The first two digits represent the hour of the day while the last two digits indicate minutes. For example, 4:30 PM would be "1630" in military time.

One advantage of using this system is its accuracy. Military personnel don't need to worry about ambiguity between AM and PM when communicating times since each period has its own set of digits. Additionally, having one single format that's understood across different countries prevents any confusion during international collaborations.

Another benefit of this system is its efficiency; it makes it easier to create schedules that need to track shorter periods than minutes or hours such as train routes and airplane flights which require precision that can only be achieved with this form of timekeeping.

This form of expressing time also comes with challenges such as confusion for those who are not accustomed to it as well as difficulty when converting back-and-forth between regular (12-hour) and military (24-hour) times for some people.
